Have A Theme

Think of your Instagram profile as your new home page. It's the first impression that potential followers will have of you and you want to make a good one. Having a consistent theme by creating your own aesthetic is very important and will help attract new followers.

Use Hashtags Wisely

Hashtags are a great way to increase your reach but be sure to use them wisely. Depending on what your focus is on Instagram (i.e. lifestyle, food, fashion, etc), use hashtags that reflect that. You can even check what hashtags other similar Instagrammers are using.

Don't be afraid to do a trial-and-error. It's recommended that you change the hashtags you use every once in awhile, otherwise, Instagram might "shadowban" you and your posts won't even show up.

Engage, Engage, Engage!

Be sure to engage with your followers and not just on your own posts but on theirs as well. You want to make your followers feel valued and keep them coming back especially your most loyal ones!

3-2

Be Consistent

It's not just about what you post, it's about when you post and how frequent you post. I've found that the best times to post are when people are on their phones. If you think about it, that's usually in the morning before work (8-9 am), during lunch break (11 am-1 pm), or in the evening when people are in bed (8-9 pm).

Being consistent is key. Taking more than two days in between posts can hurt your engagement.

3-3

Always Be Authentically You

Show your personality because nobody is better at being you than you! Because creating a social media presence isn't all about selling your products or services, it's about making connections. People are more likely to follow you if they can identify with you.

Let me know if you've used these tips before and if so, what has worked best for you!

I am an urban adventurer who loves to discover new places, meet larger than life personalities, and solve complex problems. I founded and started my business, Media Garcia, as a side hustle the early 2010s and it went from a small underdog website development business to a bold and beautiful growth agency. I free time-strapped entrepreneurs by discovering the friction and pain points in their business processes and optimize and automate where needed. Grow better with less effort.
